Are you decorating your house, but don’t really know where to start? The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in your home: it needs to be practical, but it also needs to look great! The kitchen is the place where our families spend quality time together – over breakfast, making meals together and doing chores. With all the time you spend in the kitchen, cooking, eating and cleaning up, the ambiance is very important.

Here are some of the hottest new trends designers are suggesting for 2017.

Dazzle with Mirrors

Mirrors have been all the rage in home design lately. And for good reason: not only are they beautiful, they instantly lend an air of luxury to any space. Not to mention how useful they are. If you want your kitchen to be on trend, a custom mirror is just the thing for you. There are plenty excellent ways to incorporate mirrors into your kitchen. While you can use them anywhere to instantly up the style factor, they are especially useful in smaller spaces or rooms with insufficient light. If your kitchen is not as big as you would want it to be, strategically positioned mirrors could visually double the space.

In darker rooms, try to position mirrors opposite the light source – it will reflect the light and make the room look more luminous. Trendsetters are suggesting installing mirrors on your overhead cabinet doors or, for an ultra-modern look, replacing traditional tiles with a mirror backsplash.

Hide Your Appliances

For a while, expensive looking stainless steel appliances were all the rage. Now there has been a shift in the trend. This year, designers are saying the kitchen is all about stealth! Appliances hidden in cabinets tend to give the kitchen a tidy look. Why not hide your appliances with customized sliding doors, the time has come to mix and match, they no longer belong only to wardrobes. This is especially effective when paired with European style cabinetry design: designers say to forgo the classic look, and choose elegant, shiny, streamlined cabinets for a more modern look.

Give It a Rustic Feel

Those who are not into the sleek, futuristic or industrial feel, can breathe a sigh of relief – there’s an equally trendy alternative! The rustic look for kitchens is back this year. If you’d like your kitchen to have a warm, cozy feel, this is the style for you. Instead of stainless steel, opt for mixed hardware. This will give you an eclectic feel. Forgo the super modern backsplash and subway tiles, and deck out your kitchen in warm and romantic terracotta tiles.

wood

Fill your kitchen with pretty and colorful details to make it feel lived in. The best way to showcase your cute trinkets is on open shelves, and you could even build your own kitchen rack.

Don’t Play It Safe with the Colors

The days of boring dark wood and classic white in the kitchen are behind us. This year it’s all about color! Rich jewel tones are all the rage. Go for a deep, dark green, a vibrant red or warm egg yolk yellow. A splash of color will lend instant depth and character to your home. One of the most interesting trends are tuxedo cabinets. You can interpret this literally and go for a black and white combination, or choose any two complementary colors that your heart desires.

Out With Copper and Granite

Sorry to break it to you, but the ubiquitous copper is out, and so are granite countertops. As far as hardware is concerned, either opt for the cool stainless steel look, or mix and match to add some flair to your kitchen design. Granite reigned supreme for years in the countertop department, but this year quartz is gaining popularity as a gorgeous, durable and neutral alternative. Also, it is easy to clean, which is always a plus. If you chose to go the rustic route, butcher’s block countertops are probably your best bet style-wise.

As you can see, your kitchen doesn’t need to be boring or old-fashioned. Pick and choose the trends that work for your taste and budget to make your kitchen trendy and beautiful.
